External Newsletter
The client, a professional services firm, published a bimonthly newsletter for clients and prospects around the world. Comprised of how-to pieces, summaries of recent firm research and thought leadership, case studies, and Q&As with subject matter experts, the newsletter was published in several languages and distributed both electronically and in print. Margaret participated with the client’s international team on editorial planning and wrote the majority of articles published. While some were based primarily on interviews with internal experts, others required that Margaret distill the client’s recent research or presentations into short, attention-grabbing articles.
“How Fleet Bank Fought Employee Flight,” Harvard Business Review, April 2004 (View Article Summary)
The client was invited to submit an article to the Harvard Business Review detailing its work with a leading financial services firm to uncover the sources of and reduce excess employee turnover. The article describes the bank’s history and challenges, the analytic approach used to identify the causes of high turnover, the actions taken as a result of the analysis and the results achieved. Hired to ghostwrite the article, Margaret interviewed the key participants in the project and worked from slide decks and other project material to craft the story.
Employee Magazine
The US subsidiary of a European pharmaceutical company published a quarterly magazine for employees. Margaret was hired to write the 3-5 articles for each issue, which ranged from profiles of employees, functions and products to analyses of the market and summaries of legislative and regulatory developments. Margaret interviewed internal experts, conducted supplemental research online and delivered the stories within a tight timeframe.
“Next Stage: Are You Age-Ready?”, Mercer, 2019 (View Paper)
Mercer’s Experienced Workforce Team sought to develop a white paper articulating its point of view on how employers can best capture the value of age and experience as demographic shifts change the composition of the workforce. Margaret was hired to write the paper, which required interviewing team members and external sources as well as conducting and integrating research on a broad range of relevant topics.
